The TwinCAT PROFINET RT Controller (master) is a supplement that turns any PC-based controller with an Intel? chipset and the real-time Ethernet driver developed by Beckhoff into a PROFINET RT controller. By activating a key, an Ethernet interface is turned into a PROFINET controller. The PROFINET supplement is included in the TwinCAT installation and can also be operated without key in the Config Mode. The supplement can be used on PCs and Embedded PCs starting from TwinCAT 2.11 R3. In conjunction with the EL6631 PROFINET terminal for the EtherCAT I/O system, PROFINET can also be tunnelled via EtherCAT, in which case the supplement is not necessary. In this way, any EtherCAT network is enabled to exchange data with PROFINET RT devices.
